Today’s Fire Track premiere is another solid creation that came to fruition from the pandemic. With both film production stopped in LA, and the NY art scene froze, filmmaker Paul Burke and sculptor Steve Shaheen pivoted back to songwriting and Toy City was formed. Friends since performing in the alt rock scene of Pixies-era Boston during the mid-90s, Toy City’s debut is new but full of experience!
“Mountains” is a great melodic guitar-based pop/rock track that has a Tommy Keene meets R.E.M. type of delivery which transcends the listener to another mind space when Toy City harmonize “and I miss you.” The song gracefully captures the journey of growing up and becoming one’s true self.
Toy City was mixed and produced by multi-instrumentalist, sound engineer and bassist for Kal Marks, John Russell. The self-titled album is self released and will be out May 5th, 2023. Toy City is planning a North American tour soon, as well as a second LP to be recorded live in a studio in upstate NY.
