The Fire Note is excited to debut some new music for you today out of Nashville, Tennessee. Pretty Embers originally hails from Birmingham, Alabama, but the trio of Kameron Mitchell, Mason Thomas, and Ethan Standard are now Nashville based and spent the months before and during the quarantine of 2020 on the East side writing and recoding their debut album, Under.
Today’s Fire Track, “Inside,” is from the debut and this is what singer/guitarist Kameron Mitchell had to say about the track:
“Lyrically, I wrote this song about the daunting nature of personal evolution. I am so often my own worst enemy, but despite knowing this, it can be so overwhelming to fundamentally change my bad habits as a person…so I just don’t. This is definitely not a sustainable mindset to have, and I like to think that I am constantly growing and getting better, but there are days for me when it’s simply the truth and complacency wins.”
One listen and you can hear this emotional struggle pour out of the song, especially when the last lines of lyrics are “I know, I should probably change, I should probably change.” Pretty Embers take you with them on this intense journey which highlights why the band has been deemed the “Death Cab For Cutie of the South.”
“Inside” will be available everywhere this Friday, October 1st. Their debut, Under, will be released on October 29th. Check out “Inside” today and add the song to your favorite playlist on Friday. You can find more info on Pretty Embers at the links below.
